Jekyll and Hyde...Together Again is an American comedy that was written by Monica Johnson, Harvey Miller and Jerry Belson, who also directed. The film is very loosely based upon the Robert Louis Stevenson novel and features Mark Blankfield, Krista Errickson, Bess Armstrong and Michael McGuire. The film spoofs the original Nutty Professor as well as the classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde theme. The story follows supposedly brilliant surgeon, Daniel Jekyll (played by Mark Blankfield) who has dedicated himself to conduct medical research. His goal is to unlock the meaning behind man's animal instincts and to thereby increase his ability to heal himself. When Dr. Jekyll accidentally develops a white powder, he is transfixed on how it could be used. He inhales it through his nose, which turns him temporarily into a wildly uninhibited sex maniac. Calling himself Mister Hyde, Jekyll becomes a very hairy, gold chain wearing and extremely sex crazed party animal. He know something is off, but he is having so much fun with it that he cannot get himself to dispense with the substance, nor can he stop using it. One scene features John Merrick (also known as The Elephant Man) being greeted by Dr. Jekyll with a bonk on the head, whereupon he expresses his dislike of this. While living as the sex fiend, Mr. Hyde, he meets up with the original Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (played by Cassandra Peterson) in a surgical mask and Norm from Cheers. He also visits a popular video arcade to play Vanguard. While wandering through the cereal aisle at a grocery store, he laments that he forgot about Kelloggs’ many cereals. The movie also incorporates some transformation scenes that use stop motion photography to demonstrate how Mr. Hyde is able to grow into his gold jewelry and freshly strengthened buttocks. Ultimately, Hyde's unsavory exploits wreak major havoc with Jekyll’s normal life - leading to a likely conclusion.
