Joe's Apartment is a 1996 MTV film about a man named Joe who moves from the Midwest to New York City, in search of a new place to live. When he arrives in New York, he is robbed multiple times and loses most of his things. His move starts off rough but he finally finds some luck and decides to rent a used apartment. The place is a dump but he refuses to tend to it. And as a result the garbage piles up. Joe's landlord is determined to get rid of all the tenants in the building in order for him to build a prison on the site. And he goes about his by murdering and evicting all the tenants he can. And to make matters worse for Joe, he discovers he is not alone in his apartment. Thousands of cockroaches have built a home underneath all the his garbage! Joe slowly comes to realize that these cockroaches have the quirky ability to sing and speak. Joe and the noisy pests eventually become friends. They encourage him to cheer up through song and keep him company in the lonely city. But the friendship soon turns sour after Joe meets and falls in love with a woman named Lily. Joe tries to help Lily as she works to build a garden in the city. After much persuasion Joe convinces her to go on a date with him at his apartment. And he later coerces the cockroaches to stay hidden. This promise is quickly broken when the pests drive her screaming from the apartment. Joe's Apartment is a fun-filled comedy that shows no matter how hard life gets, things always turn out for the best. Through its twists and turns, Joe's Apartment will make one empathize and laugh at his unfortunate story.
