Takers is an action packed, star studded film with triple intertwining plots. One involves two detectives who have been partners for years, but have hit a snag in their relationship. Increasing medical bills from an ill child of one detective has prompted him to steal money from a drug bust to cover his debt. The other partner played by Matt Dillon has been told about this indiscretion by the police chief and the internal affairs office. He is perplexed as to how his partner could do this without his knowledge, and how he is going to handle this news. Meanwhile, the second plot unfolds as they are investigating a mysterious ring of crafty thieves who cleverly plan and implement robberies that are very lucrative to all the participants. One of the masterminds of the group portrayed by Edris Alba directs the operations of these debonair outlaws. Although this group of bandits have vowed not to do any jobs that are close to each other to ensure their tracks are covered, and avoid arrest by the police, one of the original members played by T.I. returns. He was imprisoned from a past job where he took the fall for the other partners. He left behind his share of the money and the beautiful girl. While in prison he came across an opportunity for the perfect heist. He made a pack with the Russian mob while in prison, but planned to get the girl, pay back his friends, double cross the Russians, and get the money for himself. The third plot is woven into the storyline because he presents his plan to his old partners in crime. He convinces them to participate in this heist to beat all heists, but plans to double-cross them in the process. Events throughout the movie present a series of what you might say are passer-by clues to the detectives. In the process the detectives’ guilty partner is killed. The climax of the plot comes after the heist is successful with some kinks, and the partners discover they were double-crossed.
