Kalvanin Kadhali is a Tamil romantic drama movie released in 2005. The movie is directed by newcomer Thamilvaanan and produced by S. S. Chakravarthy. The film stars Sarath Babu, Nayanthara, and newcomer Shraddha Arya in lead roles. The story of Kalvanin Kadhali revolves around an orphaned girl named Eashwari (Shraddha Arya) who lives with her aunt and uncle. Eashwari, a talented singer, falls in love with a wealthy businessman Thirukumaran (Sarath Babu). Thirukumaran initially rejects her proposal, but eventually falls in love with her.
Things take a turn when Eashwari's aunt and uncle try to convince her to marry a wealthy and powerful man in the village, much against her wish. Eashwari refuses and instead decides to marry Thirukumaran. The couple's love slowly blossoms, but their happiness is short-lived when they face several hurdles and obstacles on their way to living a happy life together.
One of the obstacles that the couple has to face in their relationship is Thirukumaran's mother, who opposes their relationship and dislikes Eashwari. She tries to break their relationship and creates various misunderstandings between them. The couple tries hard to overcome these difficulties and stay together.
Meanwhile, a wealthy businessman (Venu Madhav) who is interested in marrying Eshwari employs gangsters to kidnap her from her house. Thirukumaran gets to know about the kidnap plan and rescues Eashwari, thereby saving her from the forced marriage.
The movie is shot beautifully with some stunning visuals of scenic locations in and around Chennai. The music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and the songs are quite catchy and melodious. The dance choreography is also impressive, particularly in the song "Nee Pathi Naan Pathi".
Performance-wise, Sarath Babu and Nayanthara deliver good performances, but the real star of the movie is newcomer Shraddha Arya. She shines in her role as the ambitious and independent Eashwari and her acting skills are impressive. She has a natural screen presence that makes her stand out even in the presence of experienced actors.
Overall, Kalvanin Kadhali is a good attempt at a romantic drama that does not rely on cliches and stereotypes. The film explores the themes of love, sacrifice, and family values in a refreshing manner. The movie will appeal to fans of romantic dramas and those who enjoy watching fresh faces on screen.
