This Chilean comedy film was released in theaters in 2001. It's title when translated to English from Spanish is the Abalone Fever, referring to Chilean Abalone which is a type of shellfish found in the waters off the coast of Chile. The film is set in a small fishing village in southern Chile. The government of Chile has repealed the ban on the harvesting of Chilean Abalone which is said to be a powerful aphrodisiac. As fisherman and prostitutes swarm to the tiny village to profit from the Abalone conflicts emerge in the small town. Greed and lust begins to jeopardize the life of the inhabitants of the village due to the recent fishing boom.
