Love for Share is an Indonesian drama film released in 2006. Directed by Nia Dinata, the movie explores the institution of polygamy through three different stories of women from different social backgrounds. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Jajang C. Noer, Shanty, Dominique Agisca Diyose, and others. The film begins with the story of Salma (Jajang C. Noer), a middle-aged Muslim woman who has been married to her husband for more than twenty years. She has dedicated her entire life to her family, but her husband's desire to take a second wife turns her world upside down. As the only wife, Salma has never had to share her husband with anyone else, and the idea of doing so suddenly seems unbearable to her. She finds solace in religion and seeks counsel from her religious leader, who assures her that polygamy is permissible in Islam as long as it is practiced with justice and fairness.

The second story revolves around Siti (Shanty), a young and modern woman who is married to her high school sweetheart. However, her husband's infidelity shatters her dreams of a perfect marriage, and she decides to leave him. While trying to move on, she meets a married man who promises to take care of her and give her everything she wants. Siti, blinded by his promises, agrees to be his second wife, only to find out that his first wife is bitter and resentful toward her.

The final story is that of Ming (Dominique Agisca Diyose), a university student who falls in love with a married man. Despite her reservations, she decides to pursue the relationship, only to find out that he is already married and has a child. Ming, torn between her feelings and her principles, struggles to come to terms with the ethical dilemmas posed by polygamy.

Throughout the movie, we see how the practice of polygamy affects the lives of these women and those around them. It sheds light on the societal pressures and cultural norms that compel men to take multiple wives and the emotional toll it takes on the women involved. The movie also explores the different ways in which women cope with polygamy and how they negotiate their relationships with their husbands and co-wives.

Love for Share is a thought-provoking and insightful film that challenges the traditional view of polygamy and presents a nuanced portrayal of the effects of the practice on women's lives. The movie received critical acclaim and was widely praised for its realistic portrayal of the complex issues surrounding polygamy. It is a must-watch for anyone interested in exploring the social and cultural landscape of Indonesia and the challenges faced by women in patriarchal societies.
