Maharathi is a Bollywood movie, which is also performed on stage as a theatre play. It stars Jatin Sarna and Megha Mathur in lead roles. The film is based on a play by Marathi playwright, Shri Vijay Tendulkar, and was adapted into a screenplay by Sanjay Pawar. The story revolves around Subramanium (played by Jatin Sarna), a struggling actor who gets a chance to earn a lot of money by helping a rich businessman, Rajeshwar (played by Naseeruddin Shah), with a deception. Rajeshwar, who has a reputation of being a crooked businessman, wishes to fake his own kidnapping to get a ransom from his wife, Madhavi (played by Tara Sharma).

Subramanium, a master of disguises, takes on the challenge and helps Rajeshwar stage his own abduction. However, as the plan unfolds and things take unexpected turns, Subramanium finds himself in a dilemma. He is torn between his loyalty towards Rajeshwar and his conscience, which tells him that he has done something wrong. As the stakes get higher and the situation gets murkier, Subramanium is sucked into a vortex of greed, betrayal, and intrigue.

Maharathi is a gripping story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The film is full of twists and turns, and just when you think you have figured out what's going on, something unexpected happens. The screenplay is well-crafted and keeps the audience engaged throughout.

The performances in the movie are top notch. Jatin Sarna shines in the lead role, bringing a vulnerability and complexity to his character. His transformation from a struggling actor to a reluctant participant in a criminal conspiracy is convincing and nuanced. Megha Mathur, who plays his wife Malini, is also excellent. She provides a much-needed emotional anchor to the story and her chemistry with Jatin is palpable.

Naseeruddin Shah, as always, delivers a powerhouse performance. He is creepy, manipulative and yet, you can't help but feel a certain sympathy for him. Tara Sharma, who plays Rajeshwar's wife, also does a good job of portraying a woman caught in a web of lies and deceit.

The music and cinematography of Maharathi are also worth mentioning. The film has a haunting score that adds to the tension and drama. The camera work is slick and the use of lighting creates a sense of claustrophobia and impending doom.

Overall, Maharathi is an intense and thought-provoking movie that explores the darker side of human nature. The film raises questions about morality, greed, and the lengths people will go to get what they want. It is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys thrillers that are both entertaining and meaningful.
