Manhole is a South Korean thriller film that was released in 2014. The movie boasts an impressive cast, including Jung Kyung-ho, Jung Yu-mi, and Kim Sae-ron. The film is directed by Shin Jae-young and written by Lee Jae-gon. The story of Manhole revolves around a string of serial killings that take place in a small town in South Korea. The killer targets young women and leaves no clues behind. As the death toll rises, the town becomes increasingly panicked and desperate for answers.

The movie follows a group of characters who become involved in the investigation of the murders. The lead character is Bong-soo, a timid and unassuming man who works as a civil servant. Bong-soo is in love with his co-worker Soo-jin, but lacks the confidence to express his feelings. However, when Soo-jin becomes the latest victim of the serial killer, Bong-soo is forced to confront his fears and become involved in the investigation.

Alongside Bong-soo, we meet other characters who become intertwined in the investigation. There's Tae-ho, a detective who is haunted by a tragic incident from his past. Tae-ho becomes obsessed with finding the killer, and the case takes over his life. Then there's Jin-seok, a man with a dark history who becomes a suspect in the case. Jin-seok's daughter, Yeon-soo, is one of the potential victims, and he becomes increasingly desperate to prove his innocence.

As the investigation continues, the film takes us on a journey through the dark and twisted mind of the killer. We see glimpses of his past, and slowly begin to understand what drives him to commit these horrific crimes. The tension continues to build, as the investigators race against time to catch the killer before he strikes again.

Manhole is a gripping and suspenseful film that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The acting is superb, with standout performances from Jung Kyung-ho, Jung Yu-mi and Kim Sae-ron. The film also boasts impressive cinematography and an atmospheric soundtrack that adds to the sense of unease and tension.

One of the things that sets Manhole apart is its exploration of the psychological impact of the murders on the characters. We see how the investigation takes a toll on Tae-ho, and how Jin-seok's desperation and paranoia begin to affect his daughter. The film also explores themes of trauma, loss and regret, adding depth to the characters and elevating the film beyond a simple 'whodunit'.

Overall, Manhole is an excellent example of the South Korean thriller genre, and a must-watch for fans of suspenseful and intelligent cinema. With its complex characters, intense atmosphere and shocking twists, it's a film that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled.
