Mania is a psychological thriller movie from 2018 that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Directed by Jessica Cameron, this movie is an intense and twisted exploration of the human psyche and how far someone can be pushed before they break. The story follows Mel (Katy-May Hudson), a young woman who is struggling with severe anxiety and depression. After a series of traumatic events, Mel finds herself living in a new town, trying to start over with her life. But things quickly take a dark turn when Mel begins experiencing terrifying hallucinations.

As Mel's mental state deteriorates, she becomes convinced that someone is following her and watching her every move. She starts to see strange symbols everywhere, and she becomes convinced that they hold a dark secret. Desperate for answers, Mel turns to a local artist named Erika (Lucy Shahjahan) for help.

Erika tries to calm Mel down and help her make sense of her hallucinations, but Mel's paranoia only continues to escalate. As she sinks deeper into her psychosis, she becomes convinced that a shadowy figure named Marshall (Anthony Misiano) is the source of all her problems. Mel becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth about Marshall and the dark forces that are controlling her life.

Throughout the movie, we see Mel's mental state deteriorating further and further. She becomes increasingly unhinged and paranoid, and it's unclear whether or not her hallucinations are caused by some sort of supernatural force or if they're just a manifestation of her own mental illness.

The movie's tension builds slowly but surely, and it's impossible not to feel on edge as Mel spirals out of control. The cinematography is fantastic, with moody lighting and clever camera angles that ratchet up the tension even more.

The actors all give powerful performances, particularly Katy-May Hudson as Mel. She perfectly captures the fear, desperation, and madness that her character is experiencing. Lucy Shahjahan is also fantastic as Erika, providing a calm and grounding presence amidst all the chaos.

One thing that sets Mania apart from other psychological thrillers is its use of symbolism. Throughout the film, we see various images and symbols that hint at the deeper meaning behind Mel's hallucinations. Some of these symbols are subtle and open to interpretation, while others are much more overt.

Overall, Mania is a gripping and intense thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. It's a dark and twisted exploration of the human psyche, and it's not for the faint of heart. If you enjoy psychological thrillers and don't mind a bit of mind-bending madness, this movie is definitely worth checking out.
