Manikyakallu is an Indian Malayalam language drama film from 2011. The movie stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Samvrutha Sunil, and Nedumudi Venu in the lead roles. Sanjeev Sivan is the director, and the music is by M Jayachandran. The story of Manikyakallu is set in a remote village in Kerala, where a schoolteacher takes it upon himself to bring about a change in the education system of the village.

Manikyakallu takes us on a journey to a small village named Mullakkara, where the villagers are trying to cope with the aftermath of a terrible flood. The story revolves around a school named St. Mary's, which is in dire need of repair. The schoolteacher, Ravi Padmanabhan (Prithviraj), has been trying hard to convince the authorities to do something about the school's condition. But to no avail. The village's upper class, headed by Vakkachan (Nedumudi Venu), is more interested in their selfish interests rather than the village's development.

Meanwhile, Ravi meets a young girl, Sundari (Samvrutha Sunil), who is struggling to get admission to the school. Sundari is the daughter of a poor fisherman, who cannot afford her school fees. Ravi, who believes that education is the key to upliftment, decides to help Sundari. He gets her admission to the school, and also takes it upon himself to pay her school fees. Sundari's mother, who is grateful to Ravi for his help, slowly starts developing feelings for him.

As the story progresses, Ravi's efforts to improve the school's condition start bearing fruit. He manages to convince the authorities to release funds for the school's repair. The school's condition improves and students start pouring in. But this success comes at a price. Vakkachan, who has always been against any kind of development in the village, decides to take matters into his own hands. He launches a smear campaign against Ravi, accusing him of misusing the school funds. The situation worsens when Sundari's mother accuses Ravi of having an affair with Sundari.

The rest of the story is about how Ravi overcomes these obstacles and wins back the trust of the villagers. The movie also throws light on the education system in rural India, and the challenges faced by teachers in these areas. The cinematography of Manikyakallu adds to the rural setting of the movie. The director has done a great job in ensuring that the movie stays true to its setting, and the pacing of the narrative is perfect.

The acting by the lead actors, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Samvrutha Sunil, and Nedumudi Venu, is top-notch. Prithviraj is exceptional as the schoolteacher who is determined to bring about a change in his village. He is convincing in his portrayal of a teacher who is trying to make a difference in his students' lives. Samvrutha is equally good as the young girl who has dreams of a better future. Nedumudi Venu as the village head is brilliant in his role.

The songs in the movie are melodious and add to the story's narrative. The music director, M Jayachandran, has done a great job in creating the right mood for the movie. The song, "Azhake Azhake," is particularly beautiful and well picturized.

Overall, Manikyakallu is a heartwarming movie that showcases the power of education and the determination of one man to bring about a change in his village. It is a movie that will leave you with a feeling of hope and optimism. The movie is a must-watch for anyone who wants to understand the challenges faced by teachers in rural India and the importance of education in uplifting impoverished areas.
