Marilyn Manson - Guns, God, & Government is a concert film documenting Marilyn Manson's 2001-2002 worldwide tour in support of his album, Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death). It was released in 2002 and directed by Manson himself, along with art director/designer P.R. Brown. The film is a mixture of concert footage from several locations, including Paris, Tokyo, and Los Angeles, as well as behind-the-scenes glimpses of Manson and his band on the road. Along with Manson, the band members featured in the film include his longtime guitarist John 5 (who would later go on to play with Rob Zombie), bassist Twiggy Ramirez (Jeordie White), keyboardist Madonna Wayne Gacy (Pogo), and drummer Ginger Fish.

As would be expected from any Marilyn Manson concert, the visuals and overall stage production are a huge part of the experience. The film captures Manson's elaborate costume changes and props, including a giant podium shaped like a crucifix and a mechanical heart-shaped device that he climbs into during the performance of his song, "The Fight Song." In addition, there are numerous shots of Manson interacting with the audience, including times when he crowd surfs and even dangles from a balcony over the crowd.

Throughout the film, Manson offers up his trademark blend of controversy, humor, and social commentary. In one scene, he stands in front of the American flag and says, "I've come here today to show you something that you may have never seen before... The American Dream," before launching into a scathing rendition of "Disposable Teens." In another segment, Manson leads the audience in a mock-get-out-the-vote campaign and election for "King" of the concert.

Interspersed with the concert footage are various bits of narration and spoken-word pieces from Manson, including an introduction to the band, a reading of a letter he wrote to Columbine high school following the infamous 1999 shootings, and a somewhat rambling riff on religion and politics (which, given the title of the film, is clearly one of Manson's favorite topics).

Overall, Marilyn Manson - Guns, God, & Government is a wild and visually stunning concert film, as well as a unique look at the enigmatic and controversial artist himself. With plenty of provocations and memorable moments, it's sure to delight Manson fans and anyone who enjoys a good live music spectacle.

Marilyn Manson - Guns, God, & Government is a 2002 music movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 49 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 8.1.
