Midday Demons is a horror film that was released in 2013. The movie follows a famous English artist named American Elaine (played by Fiona Glascott) as she travels to Italy to prepare for an upcoming exhibition of her work. Despite being in a picturesque Italian village, Elaine struggles with personal demons that seem to haunt her day and night.

The movie begins with Elaine arriving in the small town and checking into a hotel. The owner of the hotel, Rosalba (played by Désirée Giorgetti), is welcoming and tries to make Elaine feel at home while she's there. However, it quickly becomes apparent that there's something strange about the village. Shadows and strange noises fill Elaine’s days with fear and unease as the artist becomes more and more isolated from those around her.

As she explores the village and interacts with its inhabitants, Elaine learns about an ancient curse that the town has been living under for centuries. A group of demons known as the midday demons are believed to have taken over the village each day during the hottest hours of the sun, causing madness and chaos to the inhabitants. Initially, Elaine dismisses the villagers’ superstitions as old wives’ tales, but as she begins to witness strange occurrences, she realizes that there might be more to the curse than she originally thought. She starts to experience visions of an unknown woman who repeatedly appears in her paintings and begins to feel like she is being consumed by the darkness within her.

The film has a heavy emphasis on psychological horror, and as Elaine’s mind unravels, the viewer is left with a sense of unease throughout. The movie's plot is slow-paced, and while this might not appeal to horror fans who crave jump scares and gore, the deliberate pace builds tension that keeps the viewer engaged. The Italian landscape is also one of the film's standout features, and the viewer is treated to stunning aerial views of the countryside around the village. The filmmakers make use of the natural beauty of the setting to create an eerie atmosphere that perfectly complements the horror elements of the story.

The acting in Midday Demons is excellent, with Fiona Glascott giving a standout performance as the tortured artist Elaine. She manages to convey a sense of fragility and vulnerability that makes the viewer feel like they are right there beside her as she struggles with her demons. Pietro Ragusa and Federico Castelluccio also give excellent performances as two of the villagers who help Elaine to uncover the secrets of the village's past.

Overall, Midday Demons is a well-crafted horror movie that doesn't rely on cheap scares to keep its audience engaged. The movie is atmospheric and haunting, and the slow pace allows the tension to build naturally throughout. The stunning landscape of Italy gives the movie a unique feel, and the characters add depth to the story. Anyone who enjoys psychological horror will love Midday Demons, as it's a thoroughly engaging movie that will leave an impression long after the credits roll.

Midday Demons is a 2019 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 24 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5.
