Mission London is a British comedy film that is set in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. The story is centered around the British ambassador to Bulgaria, Jeremy Hawthorn (played by Alan Ford). The ambassador has been in his post for too long and is starting to lose interest in his job. He is convinced that his next assignment would be in paradise, but that dream is shattered when his superiors inform him that his next post will be in Mongolia.

Upon hearing this, the ambassador decides to hatch a plan to make sure that he does not have to go to Mongolia. He decides to organize a gala dinner to celebrate the Queen's birthday and invites high-profile guests from both Britain and Bulgaria. However, the ambassador's plans are thrown into disarray when a group of Bulgarian terrorists takes over the embassy, holding the ambassador and his guests hostage.

The terrorists are led by a man named Georgi Milushev (played by Tomas Arana), who demands that the British government release his brother who has been imprisoned in Britain on terrorism-related charges. The situation is further complicated when the ambassador's security consultant, Ian Pendlebury (played by Ralph Brown), who is an ex-soldier, accidentally kills one of the terrorists.

The film follows the efforts of the British embassy staff, working alongside Bulgarian police and military, to regain control of the embassy and free the hostages. Meanwhile, the ambassador and his guests are forced to cope with the difficult circumstances of being held hostage, including a lack of food, water, and basic amenities.

As the situation inside the embassy escalates, the international community takes notice. Back in London, the Foreign Office is in panic mode, and the Prime Minister is forced to intervene. A special team of negotiators is dispatched to Sofia, led by the formidable Sir Jeremy Greenstock (played by James Fleet). The negotiators' arrival adds a new dynamic to the situation inside the embassy and challenges the terrorists' resolve.

Amid the chaos inside the embassy, various subplots emerge, adding a sense of humor to the overall story. For example, the cook, Mr. Popov (played by Nick Nevern), who was supposed to prepare the feast for the gala dinner, is forced to improvise using the limited ingredients he has on hand. There is also a subplot involving the ambassador's wife, Lady Hawthorn (played by Velizar Binev), who is a bit of a free spirit and rebels against the terrorists' attempts to make her dress conservatively.

Overall, Mission London is a funny and entertaining film that offers a unique perspective on the challenges faced by British diplomats working in foreign countries. The film is filled with humorous references to British and Bulgarian culture and politics and features a talented cast that delivers great performances. The film's portrayal of the tense situation inside the embassy is realistic, and the viewer is left on the edge of their seat, wondering how the situation will be resolved.

Mission London is a 2010 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 46 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.1.
