Muffin Top: A Love Story is a romantic comedy film that hit the theaters in 2014. It is directed by and stars Cathryn Michon, who also wrote the screenplay together with her husband W. Bruce Cameron. The movie also features Marissa Jaret Winokur and Diedrich Bader in prominent roles. The story revolves around Suzanne (Cathryn Michon), a successful Hollywood writer, who is hitting her forties and struggling with her weight. She is overweight, has a muffin top, and at times feels very insecure about how she looks. Suzanne is attempting to lose weight by going on crash diets and hitting the gym but has no luck in shedding the extra pounds.

Suzanne is in a relationship with a younger surfer dude, Jason (David Arquette), who is not only athletic and attractive but also works at a juice bar. However, she is not entirely convinced that their relationship is stable and believes that he is just dating her for the novelty of it.

To make things more interesting, Suzanne is also dealing with work-related issues. She is fighting for the right to write the script for the upcoming remake of "Jane Eyre" and at the same time trying to land a job as a restaurant reviewer.

Meanwhile, her best friend and neighbor, Pfeni (Marissa Jaret Winokur), who also has a muffin top, is struggling with being single and feeling insecure about her romantic prospects. She is a struggling actor who is trying to balance her career and love life.

One day, while working out at the gym, Suzanne meets Dr. Rick (Diedrich Bader), a weight loss specialist, who she thinks can help her solve her issues with weight loss. They form a bond and start seeing each other romantically.

As Suzanne's relationship with Dr. Rick develops, she discovers more about herself and realizes that she needs to love herself for who she is and not try to conform to society's standards of beauty. Through her journey to self-love and acceptance, she comes to understand that true beauty comes from within.

The movie has an underlying message that being comfortable in your own skin is more important than conforming to a certain image of what society deems as beautiful. It also tackles the issue of ageism, as Suzanne feels insecure about dating a younger man, and the challenges that women face in the entertainment industry.

The humor is definitely the standout feature of the film, as the writers have managed to blend humor with important social issues. There is a blend of physical humor, witty one-liners, and hilarious situations that keep the audience engaged and entertained throughout the movie.

Cathryn Michon, who also stars in the movie, has done an excellent job in bringing out the character of Suzanne, making it both funny and relatable. The supporting actors, especially Marissa Jaret Winokur, add to the humorous aspect of the film, and Diedrich Bader gives an outstanding performance as the charming and witty weight loss specialist.

Overall, Muffin Top: A Love Story is a feel-good movie that celebrates self-love, individuality, and acceptance. It is a must-watch for those who are looking for a good laugh and a heartwarming story.
