Mundo Grua is a 1999 Argentine drama film by director Pablo Trapero that follows the story of Rubén (Luis Margani), a middle-aged man working at a towing company called Gruas Norte. The film portrays his daily struggles to make ends meet and to keep his job in a world where the underdog is constantly looked down upon and mistreated.

Rubén is a man with seemingly few aspirations in life. His days consist of waking up early, going to work, and dealing with the difficult customers of Gruas Norte. He spends most of his time driving around the city in his tow truck, picking up damaged cars, and bringing them to the impound lot. Despite the monotony of his job, Rubén takes pride in his work and his company.

One day, Rubén is tasked with towing the car of a young man named Jacinto (Daniel Valenzuela). Jacinto is a struggling artist who accidentally causes a traffic accident that damages his car. He is devastated at the thought of having to pay for the damages, as he cannot afford it. Rubén takes pity on Jacinto and offers him a deal – he will tow Jacinto's car to a nearby mechanic and wait with him while the repairs are done. In exchange, Jacinto will pay him in artwork.

The unlikely pair begins to form a bond as they spend time together. Rubén is fascinated by Jacinto's art and the young man's passion for his creative work. Jacinto, on the other hand, gains a newfound respect for Rubén's hard work and dedication to his job. Despite their differences in age and social status, the two men find common ground in their love for art and their desire for a better life.

Meanwhile, Rubén faces increasing pressure at work. His boss (played by Adriana Aizemberg) is constantly berating him for not meeting the company's quotas and threaten to fire him if he doesn't improve his performance. To make matters worse, Rubén's wife has left him, leaving him to care for their daughter by himself.

As Rubén navigates these challenges, he begins to reassess his life and his priorities. He realizes that he has been living a life without passion or purpose, and that he wants more for himself and his daughter. With the encouragement of Jacinto, Rubén decides to pursue his own artistic passion – photography – and takes steps towards a new, more fulfilling life.

Mundo Grua is a powerful and poignant portrayal of the daily struggles of working-class life. The film is beautifully shot and features outstanding performances by its cast. With its themes of art, aspiration, and the human spirit, Mundo Grua is a timeless story that will resonate with viewers of all generations.
