Set in the 1920s, Paix sur les champs stars Christian Barbier as a rich Flemmish farmer who is thought to have killed his fiance Johanna two decades before the movie opens. The farmer, Stanne, had the case against him dismissed, but Johanna's mother still suspects and loathes him. When Stanne's own son falls for Johanna's little sister and the girl's mother forbids the marriage, Stanne must wrestle with his conscience. The 91-minute French film was released in 1972 and directed by Jacques Boigelot.
