Pink is a 2016 Hindi-language courtroom drama film directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and produced by Rashmi Sharma, Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi, Tushar Pandey, Piyush Mishra and Dhritiman Chatterjee in pivotal roles. The film revolves around the lives of three working women, Minal (Taapsee Pannu), Falak (Kirti Kulhari) and Andrea (Andrea Tariang) who live together in a posh apartment in Delhi. One night, while partying at a resort, the women get into a scuffle with a group of drunk men who sexually harass them. In self-defence, Minal hits one of the men with a bottle, and they escape from the resort.

The next day, the men file a complaint against the women, alleging that they were prostitutes who attacked them after being paid for services. The women are arrested and Minal is charged with attempted murder. In a bid to prove their innocence, they reach out to a retired lawyer, Deepak Sehgal (Amitabh Bachchan), who takes up their case.

The film takes a deep dive into the patriarchal mindset of the Indian society and the stereotypes attached to women. The women in Pink are portrayed as bold, independent and fearless, who refuse to be objectified or marginalised. They are determined to fight for their rights and dignity in a system that is heavily biased against them. The film highlights the inherent biases and prejudices that exist in the Indian legal system, where the victim is often blamed for the crime.

The performances in Pink are exemplary. Amitabh Bachchan is the soul of the movie with his impeccable acting, making his dialogues even more powerful by his delivery. Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, and Andrea Tariang deliver equally strong performances, embodying their characters with authenticity and depth. Angad Bedi and Piyush Mishra also impress with their performances.

The cinematography is stunning, as the movie captures the contrasting aspects of Delhi - the vibrant, cosmopolitan lifestyle of the city, as well as its grim and ugly side. The use of the colour pink throughout the film, especially in the court scenes, is symbolic of the women's fight for their rights and the patriarchal society that they are up against.

The film has some standout moments, notably the courtroom scenes where Deepak Sehgal's cross-examination of the men's witnesses exposes their lies and prejudices. The scene where Deepak gives a powerful speech on 'no means no' and 'consent' has been hailed as a landmark moment in Indian cinema, resonating widely with women across the country.

Pink is a powerful and thought-provoking film that challenges the status quo and puts a spotlight on issues of sexual violence against women in India. The film is a call to action, urging society to reform and change its attitudes towards women. Pink is a must-watch for all ages and genders, and it proves that cinema can be used as a powerful tool for social change.
