Keir Kilgour (Chase Ashurst) is a Scottish rugby star with a legendary father who has high expectations for his son, not only in the professional sport of rugby, but also in his ideas of what makes a man. Keir fails to live up to those expectations, as his father’s legend has lent him a pampered lifestyle in the sport, and he never really grasps what the game (or life) is all about.

Keir leaves Scotland to pursue fame and celebrity in the United States, thinking he will join the NFL. Realizing that in the US, his name is meaningless in professional sports, he ends up playing amateur rugby in Kansas City. Playing on a team of regular guys, not stars, he starts to realize what the sport is all about. All the things his father was trying to tell him, that rugby was built on teamwork, bravery and loyalty, he learns from his teammates in Kansas City.

Soon Keil returns to his homeland with his new team and tries to earn back the respect he used to have from his family and friends. Keil realizes he must choose between what he has learned and earned and become to value on his own and what his father wishes for him.

Play On is written by David Story and Albert Dekin and directed by Story. The film is also produced and funded by rugby players and was launched exclusively online in hopes of gathering the rugby community behind the film first, having others view it and then expose them to the players’ true passion for the game, as well as the ethics that the sport was built on.

In order to promote the movie and encourage people to watch it online, each person that purchased the streaming video was entered into a drawing to win tickets to that year’s World Cup in New Zealand.
