The movie begins with the arrival of Gene Autry (played by himself) and his young sidekick Frog Millhouse (Frankie Darro) at the Radio Ranch. The Radio Ranch is a place where radio broadcasts are made and is owned by the widowed Betsy King Ross (played by Betsy King Ross).

Soon after their arrival, Gene and Frog discover that a criminal gang led by the notorious Wolfe Reade (Robert Frazer) is smuggling stolen diamonds through the ranch. Reade and his gang are headed to a nearby city to sell the diamonds, but they have to get through the ranch first.

Gene and Frog try to alert Betsy to the danger but she won’t believe them. Meanwhile, Reade and his gang infiltrate the ranch while pretending to be musicians. Gene and Frog try to stop them, but they are captured.
