"He should be in Major League Baseballs Hall of Fame." -Bob Costas
Roger Maris is not in the MLB Hall of Fame despite breaking the all time MLB home run record set by Babe Ruth hitting 61 HR's in 1961. He made seven All Star appearances, won three World Championships, two AL MVP's, two RBI Champion and a Gold Glove. But Maris' successful career was not all that he was known for; his family and roots are just as important. After Roger's successful career in MLB mostly noted with the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals and then as a Budweiser Distributor in Gainsville, FL, he was diagnosed with cancer. Roger's wife, Pat, and their children continue his legacy today with the Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament, held every year for 32 years in Fargo, ND with proceeds benefiting the Roger Maris Cancer Center, Shanley High School and Red River Hospice.

Roger Maris Hometown Hero is a 2013 documentary with a runtime of 22 minutes.
