Scared is a horror movie released in 2002 that explores themes of possession, demonology, and psychological manipulation. The film is directed by John Lands and stars Luciano Saber, Kate Norby, and Cory Almeida in the lead roles. The movie follows the story of a young couple, Samantha and David, who move into a new house in order to start a new life. However, their lives take a turn for the worse when they discover that their house is haunted by a malevolent spirit. As they struggle to come to terms with the supernatural events unfolding around them, they begin to realize that the spirit may be more than just a ghost, and that it may have a sinister agenda.

The movie opens with a prologue that sets the tone for the rest of the film. We see a young girl, possessed by a demon, being exorcised by a team of priests. The girl's screams and the eerie music that accompanies the scene are unsettling, and we get a sense of the danger that lies ahead.

Cut to the present day, and we meet Samantha and David as they move into their new house. We see the couple trying to make the best of their situation, but it is clear that something is amiss. Strange noises, objects moving on their own, and other unexplained phenomena begin to plague the couple.

At first, Samantha and David try to rationalize the occurrences, believing that they are simply the result of stress and fatigue. However, as the events intensify, they begin to realize that they are dealing with something far more sinister.

The film does an excellent job of building tension throughout. The scares are gradual, with subtle hints that something is wrong. As the movie progresses, the scares become more frequent and intense, until the final act when everything comes to a head.

One thing that sets Scared apart from other horror movies of its time is its use of psychological horror. While there are plenty of jump scares and paranormal phenomena, the movie delves deeper into the psychological trauma that the couple is experiencing. We see their relationship start to deteriorate as they struggle to come to terms with the trauma they're facing.

The movie also introduces some interesting themes around possession and demonology. We see characters consult with priests and demonologists to try to understand what is happening. This adds a layer of depth to the paranormal occurrences in the film, and makes it more than just a typical ghost story.

The acting in Scared is strong, with Luciano Saber and Kate Norby delivering believable performances as the troubled couple. Cory Almeida is also excellent in his role as the priest trying to help the couple.

The special effects in the film are mostly practical and held up surprisingly well over time. There are some instances of CGI, but they are well-done and don't detract from the overall experience.

Overall, Scared is a well-made horror movie that still holds up today. Its blend of paranormal activity, possession, and psychological horror make for a unique and compelling viewing experience. If you're a fan of horror movies, it's definitely worth checking out.

Scared is a 2002 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 28 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.1.
