Scary Clown is a 2016 horror film directed by Jon Watts and written by Christopher D. Ford. The film follows a group of friends who decide to prank one of their own by hiring a clown to scare her. However, things take a terrifying turn when the clown they hired turns out to be a deranged psychopath. The movie opens with friends Denise (Jessica Bonanno), Sarah (Alia Gabrielle Eckhardt), and Eric (Matthew King) discussing their plans for the weekend. Denise suggests that they should hire a clown to scare Sarah, who is terrified of clowns. Eric finds a flyer advertising a clown for hire and convinces the group to go through with the prank.

They meet the clown, who introduces himself as "Peek-A-Boo," and agrees to scare Sarah. As Sarah goes about her day, strange things start happening, including mysterious phone calls and a clown doll popping up in her room. Sarah starts to believe that she is being stalked by the clown and becomes increasingly paranoid.

As the group gathers at Denise's house that night, they hear strange noises outside. They investigate and find that the clown has followed them home. The group tries to confront the clown, but he attacks them with a knife, and they flee in terror.

The rest of the movie follows the group as they try to survive the clown's attacks and figure out his motive. Along the way, they encounter other victims of the clown and discover that he has a disturbing history.

Scary Clown is a tense and suspenseful horror film that keeps the audience on edge throughout its runtime. The movie's strength lies in its ability to create a sense of dread and uncertainty, making the audience question whether what they are seeing is real or just part of the group's imagination.

The performances by the actors are convincing, and they do an excellent job of conveying the fear and desperation of their characters. Jessica Bonanno stands out as Denise, the level-headed member of the group who tries to keep everyone together in the face of the clown's attacks. Alia Gabrielle Eckhardt also gives a strong performance as Sarah, the victim of the clown's harassment.

Matthew King, who plays Eric, provides some comic relief to the film, but also has some of the most chilling scenes. His character's penchant for making prank phone calls adds an extra layer of tension to the movie.

The film's cinematography is also worth noting, with its use of shadows, close-ups, and distorted camera angles creating an unsettling atmosphere. The score by Michael Giacchino adds to the film's ominous tone, with its use of dissonant notes and eerie melodies.

Overall, Scary Clown is a well-crafted horror movie that will satisfy fans of the genre. The movie's focus on character development and storytelling sets it apart from other horror movies that rely solely on jump scares and gore. It is a must-watch for horror fans looking for a fresh take on the genre.
