Second Show is a 2012 Malayalam-language action-drama film directed by Srinath Rajendran and produced by AOPL Entertainment. The film stars the highly acclaimed Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, alongside Sunny Wayne and Gauthami Nair. The movie is set primarily in the late 1990s and tells the story of an underground martial arts fighter named Harilal "Lalu" who gets into trouble with various gangsters.

The movie begins with Lalu (Dulquer) sleeping in his car in a dark alley. We then see a few men walking towards him, and one of them hits Lalu. In a few moments, Lalu wakes up and starts fighting the men. Lalu's fighting skills become evident as he manages to defeat them despite being outnumbered. This opening scene sets the tone for the rest of the movie.

The film then jumps to the past and shows Lalu as a young and carefree man who spends his time hanging out with his friends, including his best mate, Kurudi (Sunny Wayne). Lalu has a passion for martial arts and often participates in small local tournaments. He dreams of becoming a professional fighter, but his father wants him to focus on their family business.

One day, after winning a local tournament, Lalu is approached by a man named Marthandan (Baburaj), who offers him a chance to fight in the underground martial arts world. Marthandan is a notorious gangster who operates this illegal martial arts circuit. Lalu initially refuses the offer but later agrees to join Marthandan's team after he is humiliated by a rival fighter.

After joining Marthandan's team, Lalu experiences a rapid rise to fame. He becomes known as "Lalu's Show" and starts winning fights against seasoned fighters. His popularity attracts the attention of local gangsters, including the violent and ruthless Shankar Das (Sudesh Berry). Shankar Das is impressed with Lalu's fighting skills and offers him a job as his bodyguard.

As Lalu's fame and fortune increase, his personal life starts to get complicated. He falls in love with a young woman named Rupa (Gauthami Nair), who is the sister of one of his friends. His best friend Kurudi, who is also secretly in love with Rupa, gets jealous and angry at Lalu for stealing his chance with her. Lalu also starts to feel guilty about his involvement in the illegal martial arts circuit and the violence it brings.

The film's climax takes place during a martial arts tournament, where Lalu and Shankar Das's men compete against each other. The stakes are high, and the tension is palpable. The tournament ends with a violent and emotional showdown, after which Lalu is forced to make a decision that will change his life forever.

Second Show is a raw and gritty film that provides an insight into the underground world of illegal martial arts tournaments. The film's technical aspects are impressive, with excellent cinematography, sound design, and fight choreography. The film's music, composed by Avial band, is also worth mentioning, which has helped establish the band as an excellent music group in Malayalam cinema.

Dulquer Salmaan delivers a fantastic performance as Lalu, perfectly capturing the character's passion, aggression, and vulnerability. Sunny Wayne also stands out as Lalu's loyal and conflicted friend Kurudi, who struggles to come to terms with his feelings for Rupa. Gauthami Nair's character Rupa is not given much to do, but she makes the most out of her limited screen time and does justice to her supporting role.

In conclusion, Second Show is a must-watch film for those who enjoy action-drama movies with a realistic and believable story. The film not only entertains but also raises relevant questions about the consequences of our actions and the moral dilemmas we face in life. The movie also marks the debut of Dulquer Salmaan, who would soon become one of Malayalam cinema's brightest stars.
