"Shanghai Dreams" is a Chinese film from the mid-'00s. The film takes place during the early portion of the 1980s and focuses on a Shanghai family that is sent to work in a Guizhou factory for China's "Third Front." The father, whom is obsessed with making it back to Shanghai in order to provide a better quality of life for his clan, does his best at quashing any potential romance between his daughter and a Guizhou worker.
