Shinsengumi Chronicles: I Want to Die a Samurai is a classical samurai Japanese production from 1963. It is a story of a clan called Shinsengumi whose memebers serve as a rough Shoganate enforcers. The clan attracts a wondering young ronin. He joins the clan dreaming to become a proper and respectful samurai. Yet, there are a lot of problems inside a clan, and young ronin soon discovers that the clan leader is an abusive and alcoholic bully. But, the leader dies at the hands of his own man, and is replaced by a samurai with the most integrity. Now the clan tries to clean up its act,and it is given a mission to find who is behind a plot to kill the Shogun and burn down the city of Kyoto.
