When a young Chinese woman decides to go to Prague to study, she receives a letter from a man her grandmother had been involved with when she too spent time in Prague. Instead of focusing on her studies, the young women decides to try and piece together what happened during her grandmother's love affair. Along the way, she meets a man who garners a fair amount of her attention. While trying to locate the man who sent her the letter in order to learn more about her grandmother, she finds herself getting involved in a love affair that closely resembles something quite familiar.
