Seshendra Shastry is highly accomplished and well respected in his profession and community. He and his wife are raising two beautiful and talented daughters. Savitri has talent in classical music and her sister Meenakshi in classic dance. Seshendra breaks the news to his daughters that he cannot afford both of their tuitions, sending them on two different paths. While Savitri is determined to pursue her education, Meenakshi is ready to forget her talent. This changes when a Chandrasekhar moves in next door finding love with Meenakshi. He helps the family anyway possible, secretly hoping for Meenakshi's hand in marriage.
