The Acid House
- 1 hr 51 min
This film consists of three short vignettes that together touch on themes of drug abuse, the marginalized dark underside of society, and what it means to be Scottish. Each of the three stories is unrelated, and is set off by its own titling and dramatic conclusion. All three also feature bizarre elements of the supernatural that are cleverly interwoven with believable everyday life in modern Scotland. A down-on-his-luck footballer is beaten by the police and has a chance encounter with God himself, a man loses the love of his wife to a criminal drug addict who inhabits the apartment upstairs, and an acid-tripping druggie is struck by lightning, causing a distinct change in his personality as he has an out-of-body experience.
