Deep in the backwoods of the Appalachian mountains, moonshine and guns are a way of life for most people. Here a young man comes to be known as "the Dancing Outlaw." A real troublemaker, his youth is spent going in and out of juvenile detention centers and even an insane asylum. Then his father teaches him a wild form of traditional mountain dancing. It's a combination of tap dancing, banjo music and frenzied jumping around. The young man develops a road act and becomes a living legend.
