The Animal Project is a film that tells the story of a group of misfits who come together to make a movie about humans acting like animals. The movie is set in Toronto, Canada, and features a cast of quirky and eccentric characters who are struggling to find their place in the world. The protagonist of the film is Leo (Aaron Poole), a down-on-his-luck middle-aged man who is struggling to connect with his teenage daughter, Clara (Hannah Cheesman). Leo is a former actor who now works as a theatre teacher, but he feels unfulfilled by his job and disconnected from his daughter. One day, he is approached by a mysterious woman who suggests that he should start a project that involves humans acting like animals. Intrigued by the idea, Leo decides to recruit some of his students to help him make a movie.

The team that Leo assembles is a motley crew of misfits, each with their quirks and idiosyncrasies. There is Mouse (Johnathan Sousa), a shy and introverted student who dreams of becoming an actor but lacks the confidence to pursue his dreams. There is also Tyler (Joey Klein), a washed-up former child star who is desperate to regain his fame and fortune. Rounding out the team are Emma (Amelia Sargisson), a rebellious punk rocker with a chip on her shoulder, and Claire (Sarena Parmar), a talented artist with a dark past.

As the group begins to work on their project, they face a series of challenges and setbacks. Leo struggles to maintain control of the group as his students become increasingly unruly and unpredictable. Tyler becomes jealous of Mouse and starts to sabotage his performances, while Emma and Claire clash over creative differences. Meanwhile, Clara is struggling with her own problems, including a difficult relationship with her boyfriend and a strained relationship with her father.

As the group works on their project, they begin to form close bonds and develop a sense of camaraderie. Mouse gains confidence in his abilities as an actor, while Tyler begins to let go of his insecurities and focus on the project. Emma and Claire start to appreciate each other's talents and work together to create something truly unique. And Leo begins to reconnect with his daughter as he sees her get interested in the project.
