The movie Apparition is about a group of people conducting the experiment known as The Charles Experiment. It is a kind of experiment that is para-pyschological in nature. The group is instructed to look and concentrate on a drawing of a deceased man in the hopes of summoning his spirit. After a couple of years later, some college students attempted to recreate The Charles Experiment. This time they attempted the experiment using modern technology to enable them to magnify their concentration efforts by 400 times. The students involved in the experiment were named Patrick, Lydia, Greg and Ben. During the experiment, a malevolent spirit was summoned and begins attacking the students. Because of this, the students were on the run trying to escape the spirit. Patrick explains to the group how the spirit may have been summoned, and the efforts of trying to contain the spirit have failed. Patrick also mentions to the group that the room they are currently in are surrounded by negative current. This leads Patrick to believe that the negative current will protect them from the spirit. The group decided to do a new experiment at Ben and Kelly’s house with the hopes of containing the spirit. This time, they plan of using the power of the entire city to simulate the concentration of 400,000 people. While the group was setting up, Kelly was being trapped in the laundry room by the spirit. However, it disappears. Once they have started the experiment, the whole house begins to shake and slowly begins to break apart. However, it also stops suddenly. Kelly and Ben started to clean the house after the experiment. Then Patrick suddenly vanished, pulled into the darkness. The two looked for Patrick but unable to find him. They felt unsafe so they left for Patrick’s safe room inside Patrick’s house. While Ben and Kelly were in Patrick’s house, they have discovered the personal logs of the people who were involved in the first experiment. They have discovered that all of the original participants died or disappeared. After some incident, Ben disappears. Kelly exist the safe room, and finds Ben dead. Kelly wanders around while listening to Patrick’s narration about the whole experiment. Patrick explained that that first experiment served as the beacon for the spirit, while the second experiment helped it cross to their dimension. As the daylight breaks, Kelly finally wandered to Costco. She found the camping section of the store, and proceeds to enter a tent. She zips the tent close and waits. At the time, Kelly has given up resisting. Then hands began to slowly appear behind her, and slowly grab her. After that, the movie ends by cutting into black.
