Summer's Moon, also known as Summer's Blood, is a Canadian horror film that was released in 2009. The movie is about a woman named Summer Matthews who decides to go in search of the biological father that abandoned her family when she was a little girl. She decides to hitchhike out to a small town called Massey and use the old picture of her father to ask locals if they recognize him or know his whereabouts. During her search, the rebellious girl is caught red-handed trying to shoplift by a local police officer. She attempts to flee, but as she does this, she bumps into a boy named Tom who assists her in her getaway. That evening he takes her out on a date then back to his home where he lives with his mother Gaia. In the morning she wakes up and realizes, to her horror, that Tom and his family are serial killers. As the story progresses, it is revealed that Tom purposefully lures women to his home so that he and his parents can torture, kill and add women to their grotesque human garden in the basement. Summer was one of the women who had fallen victim to his trap and would suffer the same fate as the women that were previously lured into the home. Rather than risk being harmed if she tried to escape, Summer attempts to befriend Tom. During her time in the house, Tom's father, Gant, comes home. She learns that Gant is the long-lost biological father that she has been looking for. Gant, however, has no interest in reuniting with her. Gant decides to add her body to the human garden instead of reuniting with his long-lost daughter. In the process of harming her, Tom intervenes, saving Summer, and Gant ends up shooting Tom and his wife, Gaia. Still intent on murdering Summer, Gant takes her to an isolated place where there is another woman captured that Gant also intends to murder. The film concludes with Summer escaping by killing her father while he is distracted.
