In the bustling town of Cheesebridge, the wealthy and pretentious inhabitants are terrorized by a legendary creature known as the Boxtrolls. The Boxtrolls are underground dwellers who scavenge for their food and treasures within the streets of Cheesebridge, and they are known for stealing and kidnapping young children. The town's leaders, which include the boisterous Lord Portley-Rind (Jared Harris) and the villainous Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley), have made it their mission to eradicate the Boxtrolls for good. They hire Snatcher and his goon squad, consisting of Mr. Trout (Nick Frost) and Mr. Pickles (Richard Ayoade), to capture and exterminate the creatures.
