The Boy and the Pirates is a 1960 fantasy movie. Bert I. Gordon directed the movie. Charles Herbert and Susan Gordon star in the leading roles. The movie is an interesting mix of comedy and gruesome violence. Herbert plays Jimmy Warren and Gordon plays his friend Kathy. One day playing on the beach they discover a strange jar. They are magically transported from the 1960s into the past, They end up trapped on the ship of the notorious Blackbeard. Film critics praised the movie for its originality. Older children may enjoy it, but the violence is over-the-top and too scary younger children.
