He is shocked when he sees the horrid living conditions that homeless inhabitants of his city are forced to live in. They live in a part of the city called Squatterstown. When he intervenes he runs up against a power structure of the city that is more favorable to property owners than to the homeless. Dr. Christian settles in for a fight and makes sure that the plight of the homeless is not ignored. He places the whole area in quarantine make the whole city aware of the conditions that the homeless are living in.
