The Essay From Hell is a 2015 horror-comedy movie about a group of college students who encounter unexpected obstacles while completing their final assignments. The film follows four students: Akono Dixon as Marcus, Ben Getz as Rob, Olivia Gilliatt as Lindsay, and Madison Slate as Chelsea. At the start of the movie, the group is assigned to write an essay on a historical figure or event. However, their professor warns them that the task will be extremely challenging and time-consuming, and that they should expect it to be at least 20 pages long. The students initially brush the assignment off as another grueling task, but they quickly realize that it is much more demanding than they anticipated.

Marcus, who is struggling to make ends meet, decides to write about the Black Plague in hopes of winning the cash prize offered by their professor. Rob, who is the class clown, chooses to write about Oliver Cromwell. Lindsay, who aspires to become a journalist, sets her sights on writing about the JFK assassination. Chelsea, who is the group's most diligent student, chooses to write about the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth I.

As the students work on their essays, they begin to experience strange occurrences. Marcus finds himself having vivid dreams about the Black Plague, which leads him to start questioning his own sanity. Rob starts hearing voices and seeing ghostly apparitions of Oliver Cromwell. Lindsay receives an ominous message warning her not to delve too deeply into her research on JFK. Chelsea becomes obsessed with Queen Elizabeth I and starts exhibiting bizarre behavior, much to the concern of her friends.

As the deadline for their essays approaches, the students come together to try and figure out what is causing their strange experiences. They soon discover that their professor has an ulterior motive for assigning the essay - he is actually a demon who feeds on the knowledge and pain of others. The students find themselves caught in a battle for their souls as they try to complete their essays and survive their encounter with the demon.

The Essay From Hell is a unique horror-comedy that blends scares with laughs. The movie keeps the audience guessing about what is truly happening to the students, building suspense as the students' experiences become more and more unsettling. The characters are all distinct and well-developed, with each student bringing something different to the story. The movie also has some surprising twists and turns that keep the audience engaged until the end.

Overall, The Essay From Hell is a fun and entertaining movie that will appeal to both horror and comedy fans. It's a clever take on the classic horror trope of unwittingly summoning a demon, and the film's college setting adds a fresh spin to the genre. Fans of horror-comedies like Shaun of the Dead or Zombieland will enjoy this movie's mix of humor and scares.
