The Fourth Question is an indie drama/thriller that was released in 2015. This film follows the story of Avery, a young woman who struggles with addiction and the aftermath of her father’s death. When Avery receives a mysterious package that contains a puzzle, she becomes obsessed with solving it, believing that it holds the key to uncovering the truth about her father’s death.

The film opens with Avery (played by Devyn Arnold) waking up in a motel room, disoriented and clearly desperate for a fix. We learn that she has been kicked out of her apartment and is living on the streets, with little hope for a better future. Despite her addiction, Avery is a bright and intelligent woman, and it’s clear that there is more to her story than her current circumstances suggest.

Soon after her father’s funeral, Avery receives a package in the mail that contains a wooden box with a single puzzle piece inside. The box also includes a note from her father, challenging her to solve the puzzle and discover the truth about his death. Avery becomes obsessed with the puzzle, pouring all of her energy and focus into solving it.

As she works on the puzzle, Avery begins to piece together the events that led to her father’s death. She discovers that he was involved in a complex web of corporate espionage and conspiracies and that his death was not the accident that it had initially been made out to be. Avery becomes determined to expose the truth and bring those responsible for her father’s death to justice.

Along the way, Avery is assisted by two of her friends, Molly (Elizabeth Baumgarten) and Samantha (Jillian Brown). Molly is a computer hacker who helps Avery navigate the complex web of information that they find, while Samantha is a former addict who provides emotional support and a shoulder to lean on when Avery struggles with her addiction.

The Fourth Question is a character-driven film that explores the relationships between its central characters. The trio of Avery, Molly, and Samantha is both diverse and compelling, each woman bringing her unique strengths and weaknesses to the table. The film does a fantastic job of building their relationships and creating tension and drama between the characters.

Despite its low budget, The Fourth Question is a well-crafted film that boasts impressive production values. The pacing is slow but sure, drawing you in with its mystery and holding your attention until the very end. The film is also beautifully shot, with strong visuals that help to create a sense of atmosphere and tension.

Overall, The Fourth Question is a gripping and poignant film that explores addiction, family, and the lengths that we’ll go to uncover the truth. With a strong script, excellent performances, and competent direction, this film is definitely worth checking out for anyone who enjoys indie dramas or thrillers.
