- 1 hr 10 min
The Hadza: Last of the First takes a look at occupants of Tanzania's Great Rift Valley, the Hazda people. Some 300 members of this society live as hunter-gathers similar to the way their ancestors lived thousands of years ago. The Hadza are the only people in East Africa who are practicing a hunter-gatherer way of life without relying on manufactured food or resources. The current descendants of the Hazda have lived in the highlands of Tanzania all their lives and trace back to the first people in east Africa over 50,000 years ago. This small group of people is currently under attack and their existence is threatened with extinction. This documentary analyzes their past, present and future outlook in a world that is rapidly closing in on them.
