The Horseman was released in 2008 and is an Australian produced film directed by Steven Kastrissios. The film features very brutal and graphic depictions of violence and was heavily criticized for it; however the director replied it was essential for the story being told. The story of the film revolves around Christian, a pest control worker who is sent a video tap which depicts the brutal rape of his daughter who has recently died from a drug overdose. Deducing that her death was caused by the men in the video he decides to track them down to get some answers; his quest, however, soon gets more complicated as he develops a murderous attitude to those that took his daughter from him. As he begins to exterminate the men one by one he is met by a young woman named Alice, a runaway who reminds him of his daughter. A shaky friendship develops between Christian and Alice but Christian's vengeful thirst for justice threatens to spill over into his new-found friend's life and destroy everything.
