This classic movie tells the story of Bastian, a young boy who lives a miserable life. His mother has died, and school bullies pick on him every day. One day, while running from these bullies, he ducks into a book shop where the old proprieter shows to him an ancient story book. The store owner warns Bastian that the book is very dangerous. Unable to resist the temptation of reading it, Bastian takes the book and leaves a note that he'll return it to the store after he's read it.

He goes to his school attic and starts to read. Little does he know that he's about to be drawn into the mythical kingdom of Fantasia, which is doomed to destruction unless it can be saved by a boy hero named Atreyu. Atreyu needs the help of Bastian to complete his quest, which is full of danger, fanciful characters, and surprises.
