The Rare Breed is a 1966 western. Andrew V. McLaglen directed the movie and Jimmy Stewart and Maureen O’Ohara lead an all-star cast. An interesting footnote for music lovers is that The Rare Breed features a score by the composer John Williams. It was one of Williams’ first forays into scoring music for motion pictures.

The story revolves around a widow Marha Price (O’Hara) and her daughter whom move west with a prize bull named Vindicator. Jimmy Stewart plays a wrangler hired to transport the prize bull to a ranch in Texas. O’Hara and Stewart are excellent in their roles. The movie is full of western themes and action.
