The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is based on a major poem written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. It is about a man who is stopped by an old sailor called the Mariner. As the young man is stopped on his way into a wedding, he feels pulled in to listen to the Mariner's tale. The tale is a vivid story of the Mariner's voyages, and obstacles that the life at sea puts in his path. The Mariner explains death, desperation, sadness, happiness, and learning experiences throughout his tale.
