Michael Rimmer is a young ambitious man who cons his way into working in a British advertising agency. In a short time, Michael is able to exploit the incompetency of the company and acquire control of the entire business. Once in charge, he turns the company into a successful opinion polling company, and starts to market himself as a polling expert. Using his newfound publicity, Michael is able to get himself into the political scene, first acting as an advisor, and then as an actual member of Parliament. All set in Britain in the 1970’s, Michael continues to rise to political prominence within the Tory party.
