Tristana is a Spanish film from 1970, adapted from a novel of the same name about the titular orphan whom is taken in by a noble. The noble falls in love with her, regarding her as a daughter and wife upon reaching 19 years of age. On her 21st birthday, Tristana longs for independence and aspires to learn of art, music, and the other humanities. Her passion brings her into contact with Horacio, an artist that captures her heart and draws her away to Toledo. Eventually Tristana becomes sick and returns to her guardian, ultimately losing her leg and future.
