Ugly is a dark drama/thriller film that delves into the harsh reality of the world we live in. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the movie explores the true meaning of trust and the boundaries that it can blur in extreme situations. The film stars Rahul Bhat, Ronit Roy, and Tejaswini Kolhapure. The movie tells the story of Shalini (Tejaswini Kolhapure) and her daughter Kali (Anshika Shrivastava). When Kali is kidnapped one day, the police are immediately notified and an investigation is launched. However, things take a turn for the worse when Kali's biological father, Shoumik Bose (Ronit Roy) is brought into the mix. He's a baggage handler for an airline and is also a recovering alcoholic with a violent past. Shoumik's arrival causes tension between Shalini and her ex-husband, and the police find themselves struggling to solve the case.

As the search for Kali continues, the movie takes us on a journey through the different perspectives of the main characters, all of whom are struggling to come to terms with their own insecurities and weaknesses. We see Shalini's desperation to find her daughter, while also being haunted by her own past mistakes. Shoumik's erratic behavior and temper reveal his struggle with his addiction and his attempts to reconcile with his daughter. On the other hand, there's Rahul Bhat's character, who plays a cop named Jadhav. He's going through a failed marriage, and trying to cope with the stresses of his job while balancing his personal life.

The performances by the actors in this movie are incredible. Ronit Roy as the flawed and somewhat dangerous Shoumik Bose, does an outstanding job of portraying the complex nature of his character. Tejaswini Kolhapure's Shalini is both fragile and fierce, conveying the immense pain of a mother whose child has been taken away, and her unyielding determination to find her daughter. Rahul Bhat, as the police officer Jadhav, conveys his character's internal struggle with a compelling, but understated performance. These actors infuse their performances with a raw honesty and intensity that makes the story feel all too real.

This movie is not without its flaws, though. At times, the storyline feels disjointed and flawed, which makes it difficult to keep track of each character's journey. Moreover, at certain moments, the movie's pacing and editing feel abrupt and could have been smoother.

Ugly is an emotionally-riveting movie that disturbs, shocks, and educates at the same time. It is also a movie that stays with you long after it's over, prompting viewers to re-examine their own lives and relationships. The story is a sobering reminder of the dangers that we face, whether we're dealing with addiction, violence, or just the vulnerabilities of human relationships. While it is certainly not a happy movie, it offers a powerful message that is worth experiencing.

Overall, Ugly is a bold and challenging movie that is sure to leave a lasting impression on anyone who watches it. It might not be perfect, but its raw, unflinching portrayal of human nature is both devastating and eye-opening. If you are looking for a movie that explores the darker side of human relationships and the human psyche, then Ugly is definitely worth adding to your watchlist.
