In the Christian drama War Room, a young couple struggles with the typical rough spots in their marriage. They've pretty much lost all hope until they cross paths with an elderly woman. The woman convinces them that dedicating their lives to prayer will solve all their problems. Tony and Elizabeth are a financially successful married couple. They seem to have everything Americans want: a big house and a big bank account. But Tony is verbally abusive and often absent. Elizabeth is considering a divorce. When Elizabeth befriends a wise woman named Miss Clara, the woman suggests that Elizabeth save her marriage by praying. Elizabeth takes the advice, and her prayers begin to turn Tony into a better person. But will her faith be enough to completely convert her wayward husband and make everything all right? The movie was released in 2015 to mostly negative reviews. Critics argued that the movie's simplistic Christian message didn't leave much room for interesting character development or a compelling plot. The film was a commercial success, however, thanks in large part to its minuscule production budget. The movie cost only $3 million to make, but it eventually grossed $74 million worldwide. The film was directed by Alex Kendrick, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Stephen Kendrick. The brothers have produced several other Christian drama films, including Facing The Giants, War Room, Overcomer, Courageous, and Fireproof. War Room is their company's most commercially successful film to date. Their most recent film, Overcomer, was released in August 2019.
