Belle McCain was raised by a physically abusive father. Belle reunites with her old boyfriend, Jeremy, who seems to be enjoying a better life than Belle. She knows that the reason she has not had the wonderful life she dreamed of having is because she is haunted by memories of her father abusing her. Trying to impress her friend, Belle lies to Jeremy about once managing Queen Latifah, before she breaks down and decides to tell Jeremy that she has financial troubles. Belle receives news that her mother had passed away. Now there is no one who can care for father. She puts her own troubles aside and decides to return home to care for her father who's very sick and in deteriorating condition. Sadly, she must try to find enough love in her heart to care for her father who has hurt her so much and made it hard for her to carve out a worthy life for herself. It is a mental struggle for her between her memories and a persistent anger that lingers and putting all that aside and being there for her father who needs to be cared for.
