Wild Geese II is a 1985 action-adventure film directed by Peter R. Hunt, starring Scott Glenn, Barbara Carrera, and Edward Fox. The movie is a sequel to the 1978 film The Wild Geese, and follows a similar plotline of a mercenary mission to Africa, but with a different set of characters and a new villain. The story begins with a British-Canadian mercenary, John Haddad (Scott Glenn), who is approached by a wealthy businessman, Robert McCann (Edward Fox), to lead a secret mission to overthrow the government of an African country named Lianga. McCann is the secret owner of a diamond mine in Lianga, but the current regime has nationalized all foreign-owned assets, including his diamond mine. McCann wants to regain control of the mine and, in the process, also profit from the overthrow of the government.

Haddad, who has retired from the mercenary business, initially refuses the offer but he is persuaded by McCann's beautiful assistant, Kathy Lukas (Barbara Carrera), who was once Haddad's lover but now works for McCann. They fly to Lianga and meet with the leaders of the rebel group, which is led by a charismatic and ruthless guerrilla leader, Alex Faulkner (John Kani). Faulkner agrees to the mission, but also adds his own demands, including a share of the diamond mine after the government is overthrown.

Haddad and his team of mercenaries, which includes an ex-convict helicopter pilot, a former SAS soldier, and a hot-headed American marine, begin training the rebel group for the attack. But things start to go wrong when Faulkner's true intentions become clear, and a violent power struggle ensues between him and Haddad. Meanwhile, the government of Lianga, led by General Ndofa (Robert Webber), becomes aware of the impending attack and starts preparing its own defenses.

As the two sides prepare for a final showdown, Haddad and his team must navigate through a web of deceit, betrayal, and violence to accomplish their mission. They face many obstacles, including an angry mob of villagers who resent their presence, and a group of South African soldiers who are also after the diamond mine. The climax of the movie is an explosive battle between Haddad's team, the rebels, and the government forces, which leaves many casualties on both sides.

Wild Geese II is an engaging action-adventure movie that will appeal to fans of the genre. The film stays true to the formula of the original Wild Geese movie, with plenty of shootouts, explosions, and hand-to-hand combat. The characters are well-developed, and the actors deliver solid performances, especially Scott Glenn, who plays the tough and resourceful Haddad with great charisma. The movie also features a memorable villain in John Kani's Faulkner, who is both charming and terrifying.

One of the highlights of the movie is the African setting, which provides a vivid backdrop for the action. The landscape is beautiful but also unforgiving, adding a sense of danger and unpredictability to the story. The movie also touches on some political issues, such as the exploitation of African countries by foreign powers, but without getting too preachy or heavy-handed.

Overall, Wild Geese II is an adrenaline-fueled adventure that will satisfy action movie fans. It may not be groundbreaking or particularly original, but it delivers what it promises: a fun and entertaining ride full of explosions, gunfights, and larger-than-life characters. If you enjoyed The Wild Geese, you will likely enjoy this sequel.

Wild Geese II is a 1985 action movie with a runtime of 2 hours and 6 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.8.
