Man on Fire
- 1 hr 32 min
Man on Fire tells the story of an ex-CIA agent who is hired by a rich Italian family to babysit and protect their daughter from being kidnapped. His job is to see that the daughter is taken to school on time, wait for her during school and return her home after school. In the beginning of the movie, John Creasy (the ex-CIA agent) seems put off by the family's young daughter. He admits that the only reason he took the job offer was because he was not making any money and needed to find a way to keep himself from being homeless. The family's daughter, Sam, is intrigued by John's standoffish nature and begins asking him questions about his life. These question stir up memories within Sam that cause him to reflect back on his life. At first the questions seem annoying to Sam, but as the two develop a deeper relationship, he finds himself growing attached to the young girl. Eventually, the two become best friends, and John takes on more of a parent/guardian role to Sam. He begins offering her guidance and advice during her parents absence. One day after school, Sam is kidnapped by unknown assailants. They plan to hold Sam for ransom and threaten to kill her if the ransom is not paid. When news reaches John, he goes mad with fury. He begins to ruthlessly hunt down and kill those that have information on the kidnappers. During his crusade he is wounded by one of the kidnapper's henchmen. Eventually John finds the assailants and offers to trade himself and the money for the release of the girl. The exchange goes smoothly, and the girl is released. John, however, dies from complications involving his wound.
