Freestylers and Trivia Friends face off in America Says season 5 episode 49 in an intense game of guessing popular phrases based on the responses of a hundred Americans. The two teams, led by their respective captains, must work together to quickly guess the top answers to questions like "name a common food served at potlucks" or "what is a popular tourist destination in the United States."
The Freestylers, a group of friends who enjoy hip hop and improv, bring their quick wit and humor to the competition. Meanwhile, the Trivia Friends, who bonded over their love of obscure facts and board games, bring their knowledge and strategy to the game.
The game starts with the "face-off" round, where the captains from each team are given a question and need to buzz in with the top answer. The winning captain then has the option to play or pass the round. If they choose to play, their team must guess the top seven responses to a given question within 30 seconds.
Throughout the game, both teams work to come up with the most popular answers given by the surveyed Americans, sometimes agreeing and sometimes disagreeing on what will be the most popular responses. As they guess, a giant board reveals the top answers, both surprising and not so surprising, leading to cheers and groans from both teams and the audience.
The game heats up during the "quickfire" round, where players need to guess as many phrases as they can in 90 seconds. The tense round sees both teams racing against the clock to rack up points and stay in the game.
In the final "rush" round, the team with the most points selects two players to face off in a fast-paced game of guessing. In this round, players are given a category and must guess as many responses to the given question as they can in 20 seconds. The player with the most correct answers after three rounds wins the game and a chance to win up to $15,000 in the bonus round.
As always, the show is hosted by John Michael Higgins, who keeps the energy high and the laughs coming with his hilarious commentary and banter with the teams.
